Static Decline

Received the following email at work today:

Please be advised, starting on Tuesday of this week (11/7) thru Friday (11/10), we will have someone on site treating our carpeting with an anti-static solution to common areas and offices. Work expected to be completed after hours starting at 5pm and ending each day between 11/1130pm.

Also, please be advised that the solution being applied is not toxic but you may notice a slight odor after application.

Any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask.

My question is, when did we conquer static? And why haven't I been told about this until now? I've been suffering with static for YEARS...and all the time we've had a solution for it? What else have we conquered behind my back?
