Ancient Times

I was just watching HBO's Rome and I have to admit, I kind of wished I lived in those ancient times. It seemed to be a simpler time, with less stress than we have today..if you put aside for one second the possibility of being attacked and killed by invaders or bandits. They had one set of beliefs, most of them were (blissfully) uneducated and they trusted their own instincts and perceptions. After all, they didn't have a pervasive (and invasive) media, challenging their way of thinking, making them doubt their own ways or telling them they've been excluded from the "cool caste" because they haven't bought an Ipod Nano.

Of course, the life expectancy in those days was about 35 and I dread to think of the dental work back then...the real reason I would have liked to live in those days?

One word: concubines!
