Mido in line for permanent Tottenham move

LONDON, Oct 4 (Reuters) - Egypt striker Mido could sign a permanent deal with Tottenham Hotspur, according to club manager Martin Jol.

Mido, who is halfway through an 18-month loan from AS Roma, has impressed Dutchman Jol during his spell with Spurs. He scored in the 3-2 win at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

'This year he promised me he would be fit, he went back to Egypt and trained very hard and came back a different person,' Jol told Reuters on Tuesday. 'He looked very good in pre-season and I think we are trying to get him on a permanent basis.
'As every player in the Premier League, he has to prove his point but I think he's doing that.'
The 22-year-old Mido hit two goals on his debut against Portsmouth last season but struggled with a groin injury for the rest of the campaign.
He has already scored twice in the league this season, although he faces a battle to be fit for Tottenham's home game against Everton on Saturday week after picking up a hamstring injury at Charlton.
