My problem with religious matters

I used to think that I hated people who stuffed it down your throat. E.g. my parents. As I've gotten a little bit older and more reflective, I wouldn't say I've become a whole lot more religious, but I've definitely started to ponder the deeper questions in life, a bit more. It's not an easy process, especially for someone who has problems having faith in anyone or anything outside of me (and not a whole lot of stuff inside me either) but I'd like to think I'm learning things. The main point here is that this process is a private one and nobody else's business. It's more private than someone's sexuality, in my view.

Which brings me to a new group of people that I think I find more annoying than the born-agains and the determined-to-rescue crowd: the people who poo-poo all things religious. Not only are they disrespectful but they also pounce on anything or everything that you do, they think doesn't make sense. Again, I'm not the most religious person in the world but I do my best. And I don't owe ANYONE an explanation about either the things I do or the things I'm not supposed to do.

What makes you think you can criticize me for my religious choices? I don't care if you're more devout than me or if you're an atheist. People demand you either be completely religious or completely religion-free. Anything else and they think they have a carte blanche to pick at your shit.

Well FUCK YOU. Religion is a private fucking matter and if you don't respect people's choices without question, you shouldn't bring it up in the first place. The key word here is respect and you don't have to understand. Because not everything needs to make sense, especially matters of faith. Not least of all people's choices about faith. If you criticize, then you probably think you're better than me. You either think you're more religious than me (and that I'm not doing enough) or you think I'm stupid being religious. In both cases, FUCK YOU, YOU EGOCENTRIC, SELF-INVOLVED, HEAD-UP-YOUR-ASSES DICKHEADS.
