Demand for Viagra set to rise during Eid

I'm a Levitra man, myself.

Pharmacists across the Middle East are increasing their stocks of Viagra after reporting significant sales increases for the drug over the Eid El-Fitr festival in previous years.

Figures reveal that during the holiday period, a time when families gather to celebrate Eid, pharmacists have seen a three-fold rise in demand for Viagra, the leading erectile dysfunction (ED) medication which is manufactured by Pfizer.

“We have noticed the increase in Viagra sales over the last few years and are this year we plan to have extra stocks,” said Dr. Nagib El Assali from El Tahra pharmacy in Cairo, Egypt.

The trend is common throughout the Middle East, with pharmacists in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar all noting similar sales patterns.

However Dr. Ahmed El Hakim, Pfizer’s Middle East Director of Health Policy and External Affairs, claims that the phenomenon is not unique to the Arab world. “The rise in demand for Viagra during Eid reflects a worldwide trend for increased Viagra sales during holiday periods and festivals,” said Dr. Hakim. “There are similar patterns in Christian countries over Christmas.”

At Eid family members join together and celebrate not only their spirituality, but also family life in general. “Naturally, married couples want to express and show their love for each other at these times,” continued Dr. Hakim. “So it is not surprising that the demand for Viagra, a medication used by men all over the Middle East to improve their relationships and quality of life in general, should increase.”

Recent studies on the “little blue pill” confirm Viagra’s success in improving quality of life. The two separate evaluation tools, the Self-Esteem and Relationship Questionnaire (SEAR) and the Psychological and Interpersonal Relationship Scales (PAIRS), revealed that Viagra improved sexual self-esteem, confidence and relationships by as much as 40 percent.

It is estimated that more than half of all Middle East males, aged between 40 and 70 years, are affected by ED to some degree, an incidence rate which closely resembles international figures.

Viagra leads the ED market worldwide as well as in the Middle East region.
Since its launch seven years ago, Viagra has been clinically proven to be a safe and effective ED cure, after more than 13,000 patient-years of observation in clinical trials – more than any other impotence drug.

More than 27 million men around the world have been prescribed Viagra, and use among men in the Middle East has increased significantly in the past four years. Many men simply use the treatment as a perfectly safe and effective way to experience better levels of sexual enjoyment and improved relationships.

I think it is not just coz of Eid, it is also coz Eid El Fetr comes after Ramadan, where people are not allowed to have sex while fasting.
