MacBook Random Shutdown

This morning, my spanking new MacBook started shutting down with no warning. The power would simply be sucked out of it. I tried to turn it back on but it would load for a second and then...shutdown.

A bunch of options presented themselves: call Apple care and discuss the problem or just head off to the Apple store on 5th avenue and let them sort it out. So, naturally, I ignored all common sense and decided to give Carmen a ring.

She logged on, did some quick research and advised me to call Apple care. They talked me through it and gave me sound advice, which took care of the problem right away:

1. Disconnect the MacBook from power source, ethernet, internet and all other wires.
2. Flip your MacBook over, find the circular screw at the bottom, use a coin to turn the screw and then simply life the battery out.
3. Flip the MacBook back up.
4. Press the power button down for five seconds.
5. Reinstall the battery and make sure to turn the circular screw back to it's original position.
6. Flip the MacBook over.
7. Press the APPLE key, the OPTION key, the P-key and the R-key, all at the same time. then, hit the power button.
8. You'll hear TWO Apple load-up jingles. After the second one, release the four buttons.
9. Once the computer boots up, go to the Apple menu, hit the ABOUT THIS MAC button and make sure you have the latest OS X version.
10. Once that's done, you're golden.

She also said if the problem persists, try removing and putting back in the RAMs. This article outlines how.
