5 reasons why I don't think therapy is for me

1. I think we should all get therapy. But unless you can't function, you don't need it. My problems are no more dramatic or crippling than anybody else's.
2. Moved to New York, checked myself into therapy. I'll tell you what the struggle is...not being a cliche.
3. It's kind of depressing to think of spending all that money to talk to someone.
4. Everyone SHOULD be troubled. That is, if you don't have problems, then you're probably too much of an airhead to realize it. The challenge is not to become a mental hypochondriac and think therapy is always needed.
5. Pills. I hate them. I want to have a healthier outlook towards the shitty parts of life, not just be happy because my chemicals have been adjusted. Yeuuchh!

Many times on this blog, have you mentioned things like "I think we should all get therapy" and "Everyone SHOULD be troubled." Not that I disagree, but I just don't recall you qualifying these statements. Is this based on your observations, or do you have a deeper insight?

Well, one of my basic tenets is that we could all do with improvement and the only perfection we have is how imperfect we are. It's not a long trip from those beliefs to these statements, is it?

I'll admit they're based on my own observations, which are hardly scientific theory (yet) but it seems impossible to me that some people on this world are actually devoid of problems and issues. Assuming everyone does and rejecting the notion of normality, because it's so unattainable, seems like a reasonable position to me. Do you disagree?

I can't say I disagree, (or fully agree, for that matter.) I mean, I don't have a formulated opinion on the matter (yet.) I was just curious, that's all. Thanks for indulging me.
