Tales of the Gold Monkey

You hear almost nothing about this short-lived TV series from the 80s, probably because it suffered from a lack of identity. It simply didn't know what it wanted to be. Some episodes it was a supernatural thriller, others it was a high sea adventure, yet others it was a Nazi/ Japanese pre-war adventure.

But by God was it fun. Jake Cutter may have been a poor man's Indiana Jones and Sarah White may have been as gawky as a the sister I never had but somehow, it all came together. I mean, Roddy McDowall as Bon Chance Louie and John Calvin as the secret Nazi Reverend Willie Tenboom? How about the scrumptuous Marta Dubois as Princess Koji and John Fujioka as the Oddjob-turned-Samurai, Todo? And I haven't even gotten into Corky and Jack, the eye-patched dog yet.

Check this fansite out and take a trip down 1982 lane. Good stuff.
