Millenium Bug: Why it didn't destroy us

I've been working (independently) on a report about why the millenium bug failed to wipe out civilisation, almost six years ago. They promised us so much mayhem and collapse that one could not have helped feeling underwhelmed by what happened. After extensive (and exhaustive) research, I've come to one irrefutable conclusion which I believe is supported by the uncovered evidence. Here is the wrap-up of my 842 page report:

The Millenium Bug did not work because, in a cruel twist of irony, it, too, fell victim to the Millenium Bug. The lack of four digits to denote the date succeeded in confusing the malevolent programming anomaly known as the Millenium Bug into thinking that the year 2000 was, in fact, 1900. Which caused it to shut down and, to put it in the parlance of the day, fail to fuck us up royally.

There you have it. No conspiracy, no secret plan by the government to divert our attention from whatever the people are worried about and no second shooter. Case closed. Let's move on, people.
