The humble exclamation mark is being driven out of advertising. Everytime I put one in, my bosses take it out. With glee. They get this smug expression on their faces, this intolerable look of sympathy and knowing condescension, before taking their time to explain to me, in words they're sure I can understand, why exclamation marks belong only in the leper colony of hack-dom.

It's a trend. It may not be fashionable now, but the thing about the tide is that it always end up turning. And I'll be there when it does.
